Our Vision

We believe that the Bible is the Word of God and it contains everything that we need to know to live as disciples of Jesus.  We have no book of rules or book of doctrine, we believe the Bible is our guide, it contains the truth and through a relationship with Jesus and with each other we can find the truth through study, worship and prayer.  We believe that Jesus is the Son of God, our Lord and Savior.  He is "God with us" and as such is our example, our teacher, of how to live a reconciled relationship with God.  Why do we need to learn how to live a reconciled relationship with God?  Sin has separated us from God and our lives need to be transformed by the power of the Holy Spirit.  Left to our own devices we will mess things up!

Based on what we believe, our Vision is summed up with the acronym W.E.E.D. The first aspect of our vision is Worship. We offer two Worship Services every Sunday with the same scripture text and theme but different styles and moods. We intentionally do this so that if you enjoy contemporary worship filled with praise music or a more traditional service with hymns and a Choir, you can find a worship home at First Christian.

The second aspect of our vision is Evangelism. God has called us to meet everyone, regardless of where they are on their spiritual journey. We believe that God has called us to be light in the darkness, hope for the hopeless, and strength for the weak. To that end, we are called to share the good news of Jesus Christ with the whole world.

The third aspect of our vision is Empowerment. We believe that the church is made up of people, not paid staff. We believe that all Christians are ministers, and we are called to release people into ministry, to use their gifts to glorify God and to bless the world. God has given us the gifts of Time, Talents, and Treasures, and it is our job, as a church, to make room and create opportunities for people to use their gifts for ministry.

The fourth aspect of our vision is Discipleship. A disciple is someone who is being taught. We are disciples of Jesus, thus we are being taught by Jesus. We want to help all people grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ, and then to apply that grace and knowledge to their everyday lives.
