The Core Beliefs of First Christian Church

About the Bible (Old and New Testament):

We believe in the infallibility of Scripture and that the Bible was inspired by the Holy Spirit and written by the hand of men.  The claims found in Scripture are absolutely true and are the supreme and final authority on every subject with which they deal.  2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:21

About God:

We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. 

Colossians 2:9; John 14:9; Matthew 28:19

About Jesus:

We believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as God’s only begotten son, His virgin birth, His sinless life, His sacrificial atoning death for our sins, His bodily resurrection, and His imminent return.

John 3:16; Luke 1:34-35; 2 Corinthians 5:21; 1 Peter 2:24; Romans 1:4; Matthew 24:44

About the Holy Spirit:

We believe that the Holy Spirit regenerates people and indwells all who have trusted in Christ as their Lord and Savior.  He sovereignly gives all believers gifts for service and He teaches and guides them in Christ-like living.   Romans 5:5; John 14:15-17;26; 1 Peter 4:10

About Creation:

We believe that God created the heavens and the earth, including all life.  Man did not accidentally evolve, but was created specifically by God and made in His image.  Genesis 1-2; Colossians 1:16-17

About Salvation:

We believe that because Adam and Eve chose to disobey God, the human race fell, inherited a sinful nature, and became alienated from God.  Because our God is a loving God, He has provided a way for all men to be saved by grace through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

About Eternal Life:

We believe that Heaven is the eternal reward for those who choose to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.  Believers will dwell there eternally with God.  We also believe the Bible’s warning of “Hell” as the place of eternal punishment and separation from God for the unrepentant who reject the gift of salvation given by Jesus Christ.
