2010 FCC NEIGHBORHOOD PRAYER WALKS

September 11
November 13

WELCOME TO THE
FCC NEIGHBORHOOD MISSION TEAM!

Although all this information may seem a bit overwhelming at the moment, the real effectiveness is the simplicity of a Neighborhood Mission: people reaching out to people and drawing them into the family of God.   I hope you share my excitement over the possibilities and blessings God has in store for us, First Christian Church, and our community.

Each Neighborhood Mission is an experience for each of us. By opening yourself to new insights about your own effective leadership, and by letting go and letting God take control, you will grow beyond your own expectations. This experience will raise you to a new level of faith and service as you walk with the Lord.

My prayer is that God will bless and anoint you as you lead and serve, transforming our Outreach Ministry and even how we do church in the future.

                  In Christ,

THE NEIGHBORHOOD MISSION DYNAMIC

The Neighborhood Mission Team work together to fulfill simple, yet powerful objectives in front-line evangelism. The team’s purpose is to share Jesus’ love at every opportunity and to help First Christian Church fulfill our plan to reach our neighbors for Jesus.

By your boldness of faith and reliance on prayer, you will be used by God to accomplish extraordinary results. You will feel the sense of God doing something in your own life and beyond.

THE KEY OBJECTIVES OF A NEIGHBORHOOD MISSION

Neighborhood Missions have been designed to fulfill three specific objectives throughout the planning, execution, and follow-up stages of each mission.

I. Reach the Lost
Neighborhood Missions are front-line evangelism work. Our primary
purpose is not to bless Christians or edify the church, although both of
those things happen. Before each Mission, the Neighborhood Mission Team will shape their specific plans to connect with and invite to faith a specific neighborhood in our community.   We will use an invitational, rather than a confrontational, approach. The goal is reaching the lost, sharing Jesus with people who do not yet know him outside the church walls. Neighborhood Mission’s mandate is the Great Commission, “Go, make disciples.” (Matt. 28:19)

II. Equip Emerging Evangelists
Neighborhood Mission serves to call out and equip emerging evangelists. Many of you may be very new to the work of evangelism and have never shared your faith with anyone before. You have, however, committed yourself to be used by God in Outreach Ministry. I have seen the Lord take the everyday church member and transform them into powerful, effective Christian witnesses.  The Lord will give faithful Neighborhood Team Members opportunities to share their faith and miracles happen. You will discover that the Holy Spirit really is at work in evangelism. Your faith will deepen profoundly. You will find a boldness you never knew you had and you will experience a deep joy as your spiritual life takes on new meaning.  Your  prayer life will deepen. You will rely more on prayer, seeing that prayer makes things happen.  My prayer is that your Neighborhood Mission experience is an unforgettable experience.

III. An Apostolic Model of Outreach Ministry
The Neighborhood Mission Team serves as an apostolic witness to First Christian Church. The Neighborhood Mission Team flesh out what the Lord intended for His church when He said, “You shall receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, and you shall be my witnesses…” (Acts 1:8).  Neighborhood Mission calls our church to make evangelism a top
priority, to make room on the calendar,  and to continue to provide money from the annual budget for reaching the lost.
